Levi x Reader: Protection part 4

“Goddammit Levi!” I shouted as I hit the cold ground.
I had tons of bruises from where Shorty McShortShort has hit me. Every blow was extremely painful; I didn’t know how many of them I could take. Of course, I hit him too. A few blue spots started to appear on his face, and I’m sure that they were present all over his body… The blows he took were quite hard, actually. He didn’t show it, thought I knew he was in pain.
I was woken up early in the morning, ate some weird-looking mush (I gave most of it to a girl named Sasha), then right after that I had to go with shorty, a crazy woman who was wearing eyeglasses and the-thick-eyebrows-blond guy to a field which was located somewhere far away from the camp. And for the time being (about one hour) I had to fight with that Grumpy-sama.
“Just hold back a little, Grumpy!”
His answer was a quick kick in my jaw. I couldn’t describe that pain…It was simply infernal. At that point I could feel the rage pulsing inside my body like some wild animal, ready to break free of its cage. I roared like a Titan, then lurched forward. Time to raise some havoc.
I ran towards him like I was a bullet. All he could see from me when I was at full speed was a strange blur; I was sure of that. He didn’t even react. Good.
I kicked him in the jaw with all my force (I was sure I heard something break). The adrenaline was still running through my veins, forcing me to move faster and faster, and to hit harder. Levi was still in midair when I jumped and hit him all over his body with my fists. I could see blood, rusty-red blood; I could hear Levi moaning, and I could hear somebody screaming my name. But I couldn’t stop.
Until suddenly…
A blow has arrived from nowhere. Another one came after that. Then another one. At that moment, my whole body was made out of excruciating pain.
I stopped all my actions, and I fell to the ground like a log. Thousands of lightings were striking inside my skull, beasts were killing each other…The world was ending.
My vision started to blacken abruptly. I opened my eyes to see Grumpy Sama a few feet away from me, sitting on his knees, visible in pain. He looked at me…well, just the way he always does. That woman and the blond wanted to help him get up, but he shoved them away.
Oh sweet unconsciousness.


“Is she alright?”
“Stupid, how could she? Do you see how she looks like?”
“Shh…guys, be quiet, you will wake her up!”
“Shut up Arlert, nobody wants to hear what you have to say!”
Mmm…Some people were arguing…And I could already say who they were.
My eyelids were so stubborn…Geez, I made the effort to open them, but they just didn’t want to…I tried again…Then again…Until I moaned in frustration. This game could be such a pain in the ass sometimes…Somewhere between super healing and normal healing they said.
“ [N-name]…you okay?”
“Just wake up you lazy, fat ass!”
Jean…Ugh, that Horseface…I was in incredible pain; my whole body felt like it went through a shredder and miraculously survived…And all of this was amplified by him!
I slowly opened one eye and looked at him.
“Jean…You’re pissing me off. Why don’t you just go somewhere else and play with yourself, thinking about that girl? You know, like you always do. You even talk about her when you sleep.”
He was looking at me in disbelief.
And I just stared at him with the most innocent look I had.
Oh, how I loved to see him annoyed, and hear everyone laugh about that. Well, everyone except an Asian girl…
“Well, I’m glad to see that you’re alright!” a voice boomed.
That mad scientist…
“Cadets, go back to your dorms! She needs to rest.”
Everyone waved me goodbye (except Jean, who shoot me a death glare) and went to their dorms. Only that mad woman stood beside my bed, smiling like the Cheshire Cat. God, this isn’t going to end well…
“Oh, I’m Hanji Zoe. I forgot to tell you. Anyways, [First Name], I came here to tell you that…”
A moment of silence.
“Shorty wants you in his office. But I don’t think he’s going to kill you, since you’e supposed to protect him.”
“Oh, that’s so nice to hear.”
Some sarcasm is good from time to time.
“Wait, what are you, his messenger or something like that?”
“Nope. I offered to come and tell you. Besides, if I didn’t do this, he would have come by himself.”

I was walking with heavy footsteps towards shorty’s office… I could be hurt in any world the game chose, and be alright in the real world. But if I die here, I’m dead there, too. So shit.
I knocked at his door like I was going to see death in person. It took me a few seconds to do so…I just didn’t feel like seeing him.
“State your name and business.”
“[First-“
“Come in, shitty brat.”
I slowly opened the door, only to see Shorty-chan sitting at his desk, holding his chin with one hand, and with another tapping on the wooden desk.
He was handsome, I had to admit, but dang…His face had a lot of bruises, colored from purple to yellow. His hair, which always looked soft, now had no shining at all. The dim light that was coming from the big window behind him was making everything look worse…I looked away from him as I bit my lip…The fact that I was almost healed made me feel horrible.
“If I may ask, Gru- I mean, Corporal, why did you want me here?”
I kinda liked exaggerate politeness. Especially if it annoyed him. But this time, I did it by accident.
“Come closer, brat. I’m not going to hurt you.”
I obeyed, even if I didn’t want to. Like always, I had an idea of what would happen if I didn’t do what he told me to. I sat in one of the comfy chairs in front of his desk, which seemed to be made out of nails at that moment.
“I wanted to apologise.”
Wait a second…
WHAT???!!!
My mouth hung opened, and my eyes were wide opened. Cold sweat started to form on my back. My heart was beating like I had run ten kilometers, being chased by a pack of flying Titans (note to self: If I ever have the chance to tell a horror story while I’m here, I’ll tell one about that).Did I hear right, or he just said that he’s sorry? The almighty Grumpy-sama, humanity’s strongest soldier, was apologizing? To me? No, no, no; this is a mistake. It must be a mistake.
“Excuse me, Sir, I didn’t hear you. Could you repeat?”
“Are you deaf [Last Name], or what? I’ve just said I’m sorry, shit head.”
“But but why?”
“Because I felt like doing so. Now get your ass out of my office before I change my mind.”
I shrugged, then turned around to exit. Gee…I almost had a heart attack. Someone could have warned me…
As I was getting away, a hand grabbed me by my elbow. I was ready to attack the bastard, but then I observed it was that crazy woman…Hanji, if I’m right.
“Soooo, [First Name], how did it go?”
“I hate you, you know?”
“Oh, come on, but you’re happy that he didn’t cut off your head, right?”
“Right, but I could live without the-almost-heart-attack.”
“Come on now”  she pleaded with puppy eyes “I have already forgave you!”
I suddenly had a flashback…Right, she was that woman I sent flying into the tree! I opened my mouth to apologize, but she just waved her hand. Like being a ball for a short period of time was nothing.
“Anyways, be prepared. Tomorrow we’ll do some experiments.”
“Experiments…?”
“Oh yes, and Mike wants to sniff you. He didn’t have the chance.”
“Sniff me? And who the hell is Mike?”
“Dear [First], you don’t have to be scared. You’ll see tomorrow.”
“If you say so.”
“Oh, by the way. Maybe we’ll go out this evening with my squad and some other cadets. Be prepared.”
With that, the mad scientist turned around and left, just like a tornado with ruffled hair. I didn’t even had the time to question her about that…Go out, but where? What if I didn’t want to? And worse, what if Levi didn’t agree, and found out while we were in the middle of action?
